My name is Catherine Fuerte. I am the technology coordinator and computer teacher at Holy Angels School for two decades now. Even though I have been in this school for a long time, I still love what I do. There's nothing monotonous about my day in school. Every day is a different experience filled with inspiring successes, motivational failures and interactions with beautiful people. It's not easy to keep up with the quick changes in technology but I welcome the challenges of lifelong learning.
I grew up in Manila, Philippines. Aside from my parents, I was also raised by the nuns who ran the Catholic school I went to from elementary to high school. I value my Catholic education as it provided the foundation of my beliefs. I am fortunate to be able to work in an environment that supports those beliefs. I have two children who graduated from Holy Angels. Both of them continued their Catholic education in high school. My son went to Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory then graduated from University of California in Berkeley in 2015. He is happily employed. My daughter went to Saint Ignatius College Preparatory and is currently a sophomore at Seattle University pursuing a nursing degree. Now that I am no longer busy being a mom to my grown up children, I have time to enjoy the things I am passionate about when I am not at work. I like to run. I run at least two miles on weekdays and more (at least five miles) during the weekends. I enjoy running along the many beautiful trails around the Bay Area including the the Great Highway, Lands End, Embarcadero, the Golden Gate Park, the beaches in San Francisco, Pacifica and Half Moon Bay. I have completed a few half marathons including the San Francisco and Disney marathons. Perhaps in the future I will be able to complete a full marathon. While I enjoy the many health benefits from running, it is not the main reason why I do it. Running is my reset button. It is meditation and prayer time for me. A few years from now I hope to see myself enjoying life by the beach, still with my computer and a pretty cocktail. :) |
